What I Know Now That I Didn't Know Then

This photo arrived in my inbox one morning last week. It reminded me of all the birthday parties and Christmas celebrations that I've attended where I've seen kids open expensive gifts, only to spend the rest of the party playing with the box.

I love how Our Little Princess has her head thrown back and is laughing with absolute abandon. I also love that the two girls play so well together.

Women of a certain age and kids know that simple is better.

  1. This is so true and my kids also, play with cracker boxes too. Imaginations abound.

  3. Besides just sitting in the box, with a little supervision, they can turn it into a play car, or a pretend stove, or a house for their dollies. My grandson came over the other day with a box that he had turned into a giant die. It certainly made playing games more interesting!

  5. What joy! Ah, yes, the fun is always the box! The bonus is that a simple box kicks imaginations into high gear. Love the photo and, as I said before, the concept of this feature!

  6. How sick is it that even when we KNOW this we still get the expensive junk instead of just keeping it simple.
